McKinstry / Salway Wedding!

Welcome graphic

With only 10 months to go and with so much going on it's hard to stay in touch as much as we'd like. We've created this web site to help fill everyone in on our plans, and to offer information we thought might be useful to our guests. We'll post updates as the big day gets closer. The wedding venue & reception has now been booked so please mark this date in your diaries and get booking your holiday! Official invitations will be sent out soon.

Accommodation:

Where to stay?

The west side of the Island is the side of the island where you get the incredible views and sunsets that Santorini is famous for as it's the cliff side. Fira (the capital) Firostefani & imerovigli are the near-by towns. It's the romantic, picturesque side so it is more expensive although there are a range of hotels from 2* - super deluxe! These hotels tend to have smaller pool areas as they are on the cliff face. Also check that they have a bar as a few that i looked at didn't! I would recommend booking accommodation here ASAP as it's already getting booked up. You won't find many package deals with the popular tour operators, but have a look on the internet or with more exclusive tour operators like 'island of Greece' (www.islands-of-greece.com)

The east side of the Island is flat and that's where the beaches are. The towns are Kamari, Perivolos or Perissa. From what I've read Perivolos or Perissa are more suitable for families.
Most or the big tour operators offer package holidays to Kamari. THOMAS COOK , OLYMPIC, MANOS, COSMOS, THOMSON all do.
Kamari looks pretty lively with lots of bars and restaurants. The accommodation in Kamari tends to have bigger pool areas and all that i looked at had a bar!

Danny & I will be staying in Firostefani, a few minutes from Fira and it's about 20mins in car from Kamari. Santorini is a small island & its only about €10 to get a taxi from Kamari to Fira, however i have been advised that there are few taxi's on the island (Less than 50) You can also take a bus for €1.50.
Flights are on a Tuesday from Gatwick & Manchester so 5th -12th September are the dates you need to book.

I have read loads of reviews on Santorini & accommodation on the island on trip advisor.com so i'd recommend checking this out. Also www.santorini-hotels.info.

I'll keep this site updated but please call us if you have any questions!
